Around 250 people took part in the annual March For Babies in New Ulm this past Sunday, and more than $21,000 was raised to help newborn babies be stronger and healthier. Special guests at the day’s events included the 2013 New Ulm Ambassador Family, Ryan and Michelle Wieland, whose son Brody was born 8 weeks premature weighing only 1-pound, 9-ounces. The New Ulm Medical Center had the top fundraising team of the 2013 New Ulm March for Babies, followed by family teams Team Gibbon and Team AidynOwenAbel. Money raised by the event funds research, education and community programs. The March of Dimes celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, and the March For Babies is the premier event in the organization’s work to prevent birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
