A trial date has been set for a New Ulm doctor accused of stealing pain medication from a vulnerable adult. The trial of Doctor David Miller has been scheduled to get underway on August 7th. He was allegedly caught on camera taking pain pills from a patient’s bottle and replacing them with over-the-counter medication. Miller was the head of the Brown County Detox Center in New Ulm at the time, but the investigation into the pill thefts revealed that he has a history of substance abuse. Miller sought inpatient treatment for depression and alcohol-chemical dependency in Pennsylvania in the 1990′s, and had also been accused of writing prescriptions to himself using false names. His medical license had been restricted following those allegations, but was reinstated in 2000.
