Gas prices are on the rise across the state, with most stations in Minnesota now charging over four dollars a gallon. Triple-A Minnesota’s Gail Weinholzer says two major refineries in the Chicago area are down indefinitely for maintenance, and they likely won’t re-start operations until after Memorial Day. The average for a gallon of unleaded in Minnesota is currently $4.09 per-gallon and climbing. In New Ulm it was at $4.05 a gallon at some locations as of this (THU) morning. The national average is currently $3.62 per-gallon. Weinholzer says we could see $4 a gallon gas prices stick around well into June, or even through the Fourth of July.
