Gas prices are on the rise for the Minnesota fishing opener and Mother’s Day weekend. The statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded is now $3.83. That’s 27-cents more than the US average of $3.56. In New Ulm the average is at $3.85 per-gallon as of Saturday. Minnesotans were paying $3.59 at the pump one week ago. Now, some stations in northern Minnesota are even charging upwards of $4 a gallon. Prices are expected to increase even more as the summer driving season begins at the end of May.
