A rare May snowstorm is expected to impact a broad swath of Minnesota today (WED), including the local area. Meteorologist Steve Woolenhouse says that a Winter Storm Warning goes into effect at 3 o’clock this afternoon until 7 tomorrow morning. A corridor from New Ulm to Mankato, Owatonna, Faribault, the Twin Cities and Rice Lake, Wisconsin will receive from 2 to 6 inches of sloppy wet snow. Southwest Minnesota is under a Winter Weather Advisory. The temperature in New Ulm on May 1st last year was 70-degrees, and it got up into the 80′s the following few days. This year Woolenhouse says the unseasonably cool weather will continue into the weekend.
