Hwy 14 Dividers Fail In The Heat 15 May 13

The yellow “delineators” in the middle of Highway 14 between Nicollet and Mankato needed to be removed on Tuesday after the highway got so hot that the glue holding the dividers in place started to melt. Mn/DOT workers recorded surface temperatures as high as 111-degrees along that stretch of highway, and the heat combined with the high winds to blow many of the delineators over. This was reportedly the first time that Mn/DOT has used this type of divider. Officials will now re-evaluate what to use to divide Highway 14 over the summer, but motorists are reminded that the 6-mile stretch between Nicollet and Mankato remains a no-passing zone.
