Summer arrives in southern Minnesota today (TUE), with temperatures reaching into the 90′s across the region. The heat will be record-setting in some areas. A Heat Advisory will be in effect for the local area beginning at Noon today until 8 o’clock this evening. Remember to stay hydrated and avoid over-exertion while outdoors.
Much of southern and central Minnesota will be in a “Fire Weather Watch” today as well, with Red Flag warnings in place beginning at Noon. Temperatures climbing into the 90′s, along with breezy conditions and low humidity are ideal conditions for wildfires. Officials say that if you have burned anything in the last couple of days you should double-check the burn area for lingering embers. The Red Flag warning will be in effect until 8pm.
