A retirement party in honor of New Ulm District 88 Superintendent Harold Remme was held on Wednesday. A wide range of people talked about Remme’s accomplishments over the course of his career, and New Ulm Mayor Bob Beussman read a special proclamation designating May 22nd as “Harold B. Remme Day” in the City of New Ulm. Remme began his education career in 1968, and served as superintendent of the Trimont and Tracy School Districts before heading up District 88 for the past 16 years. He has impacted the lives of around 45,000 students since coming to New Ulm in 1997, and during that time he has attended over 570 school board meetings and more than 4,000 committee meetings. His last day as New Ulm superintendent will be June 30th.
