Gopher Baseball & Softball Lose 13 May 13

For the first time this season, the Golden Gopher baseball team lost a conference series. Nebraska took two of three games from Minnesota over the weekend in Minneapolis. The Cornhuskers won yesterday’s matchup 8-0. Nebraska also won on Friday, while the Gophers took Saturday’s game. Minnesota and Nebraska are now tied for second-place in the league behind leader Indiana. The Gophers close out the regular season this coming weekend with a three-game homestand against the Fighting Illini of Illinois beginning Friday.

The Golden Gopher softball team advanced into the championship game of the Big Ten Tournament with a pair of wins over the weekend. But, the third-seeded Gophers lost to the fourth-seeded Wisconsin Badgers in yesterday’s title tilt, 9-3. Minnesota did earn its first berth to the NCAA Tournament since 2003. The Gopher are 35-and-17 overall and will face Hawaii in the opening round on Friday in Seattle. Hawaii is 43-and-11. The other side of the regional bracket shows Washington against Portland State.
