Franken Hotdish-Off Recipes 07 May 13

US Senator Al Franken held his 3rd-annual Hotdish-Off recently, and has now released a book featuring the recipes from the event. The Democratic senator started the friendly Hotdish-Off in 2011 as a way to bring Minnesota’s congressional delegation together and celebrate a Minnesota culinary tradition. This year, First District Congressman Tim Walz won with his Hermann the German Hotdish. Other entries this year included: Senator Klobuchar’s “I Can’t Believe It’s Not SPAM’” Pepperoni Pizza Hotdish; Franken’s Willmar Stew Hotdish; Collin Peterson’s Easter Ham and Cheese Hotdish; Betty McCollum made Beef, Beer, & Biscuits Hotdish; Michele Bachmann had Southwest Metro Hotdish; Keith Ellison made Juicy Lucy Hotdish; Rick Nolan created “Real Deal” Ranger Hotdish; and Erik Paulsen made Kelly Paulsen’s Taco Hotdish.
