Dayton Signs Freedom To Marry Act 15 May 13

Minnesota became the 12th state in the nation to legalize same-sex marriage when Governor Dayton signed the Freedom To Marry Act on Tuesday while thousands watched on the front lawn of the State Capitol. The governor thanked Minnesotans for electing legislators who supported “this monumental social advance.” He thanked lawmakers for writing what he termed the latest chapter in John F. Kennedy’s “Profiles in Courage.” Minnesota’s Freedom To Marry Act will go into effect August 1st.
