A Waseca man accused of assaulting several law enforcement officials this past April made an appearance in court Thursday. 50-year-old Jimmie Julius Herman allegedly assaulted an officer at a Waseca bar and was tasered by another officer. He was hospitalized after being hit with the stun gun, but after being treated he allegedly punched the first police officer in the face and choked a hospital security guard. A Blue Earth County sheriff’s deputy was also involved in the scuffle as Herman was taken into custody. He had been facing felony charges of assault, assault of a peace officer and terroristic threats, but pleaded guilty to the assault charge on Thursday and the other counts will now be dismissed as part of a plea deal. His sentencing is set for July 15th.
