A former Le Sueur man has been arrested for a suspected incident of arson in Winnebago late last week. 30-year-old Owen Scott Poole was taken into custody Thursday following the fire at a residence on Faribault County Road 10 just west of Highway 169. Authorities had stopped a pickup truck that was facing the wrong way on the highway, and Poole was the driver. He reportedly began walking toward the home after being pulled over, and allegedly appeared intoxicated and smelled of gasoline. Winnebago police officers reported a large amount of spilled gas in the bed of the truck Poole was driving, and as the vehicle was being loaded on a tow truck, officers heard glass break and saw flames rush out of the windows of the home. No one was inside the house at the time, and investigators have determined that the fire was intentionally set. Poole’s motive for the crime has not been released, and he is being held in the Faribault County Jail on charges of 1st-degree arson, 2nd-degree burglary, and 2nd-degree DWI.
