The American Red Cross celebrates “World Red Cross Day” on Wednesday, and several blood drives are being held around the area this week as well. Today (MON) the Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at Tanker Bay Sports Bar in Winthrop from 1 to 7pm and the Waseca American Legion from Noon to 6. On Tuesday eligible donors can give blood at Martin Luther High School in Northrop from 12:30 to 5:30 or Odeon Hall in Belview from 2 to 7. On Wednesday you can Give The Gift Of Life at GFW High School in Winthrop from 8am to 1pm or Wabasso High School from 9 to 2. The Mankato Red Cross Headquarters on Homestead Drive is holding blood drives from 12:30 to 5:30 on Thursday and 9 to 1 on Friday, and the Bloodmobile will be at Valley Green Square in Le Sueur from 9 to 3 Friday as well as at Renville County West High School in Renville from 9:30 to 2:30. World Red Cross Day is Wednesday in honor of the birthday of Henry Dunant, who founded the International Red Cross and Red Crescent movement nearly 100 years ago.
