April 2013 Brought Winters Wrath 01 May 13

April of 2013 in Minnesota will be remembered for it’s late winter storms. Duluth set a monthly record with nearly 51-inches of snow, but State Climatologist Greg Spoden says southern Minnesota did not escape April’s winter wrath. Southwestern Minnesota was hit by an April 9th ice storm that knocked out power to thousands of homes. New Ulm received just over 25-inches of snow throughout the month of April, just shy of the April record, which was 28-inches in 1928.
