Republicans say the state needs to come up with another financing source for a new Vikings stadium because e-pulltabs are seriously under-performing. A Vikings-themed lottery game is one backup specified in stadium legislation, but House Minority Leader Kurt Daudt (DOWT) says that will simply reduce the revenue for other lottery games. Senate Assistant Republican Leader Dave Thompson says it’s the governor’s responsibility to find a new funding source because his administration mis-calculated expected e-pulltab revenue. Dayton responds it’s “very premature” to look for another source of money. Republicans warn, if the state doesn’t, taxpayers could be socked with interest costs on Vikings stadium bonds.
