The District 840 Foundation held the 11th annual St. James Cash For Kids over the weekend. The fundraiser raises up to $15,000 each year for school programs not in the district’s budget. The biggest money-maker for Cash For Kids this year was the naming rights for the high school gym, which went for $4,400 in honor of longtime St. James Sports Booster Denny Kaus, who passed away in March. Half of that came from the community at-large, and the other half from District 840 Foundation President Leora Ask. There were a total of nearly 900 auction items for Cash For Kids this year.
