A former Redwood Falls man convicted of 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct following a jury trial has been sentenced to over 16 years in prison for the crime. 29-year-old Daniel Leith Renville was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in Redwood Falls in August of 2012. Prosecutors called it a “disturbing crime” because a young child was sleeping in the room where the assault occurred, and the woman suffered serious injuries. She testified against Renville in the trial. He was sentenced to 201 months in prison and given credit for 194 days already spent in jail. He will be eligible for supervised release after 10 years, and will be required to register as a predatory offender.
