Governor Dayton has promised to help residents in southwestern Minnesota affected by last week’s severe ice and snow storms. The governor, along with Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken surveyed the damage in Worthington, Luverne and Hills over the weekend. The state leaders met with emergency responders and utility representatives to discuss a recovery plan. Many in Nobles County remain without power following the ice storm, which led the governor to declare a ‘state of emergency’ in the area and send the national guard in. Officials say that over 2,000 power poles were damaged in the storm, and it could be up to a week before power is restored to everyone.
