The New Ulm District 88 School Board is expected to appoint a new school board member this (THU) evening. The new appointee will fill the vacated seat of Jill Hulke, who resigned recently after learning that she was ineligible to serve on the board because her home is outside the District 88 boundaries. The district’s Personnel Committee reviewed the applications for the seat on Monday. The new appointee will serve until the general election in November of 2014, at which time a new board member will be elected. The board is also scheduled to make decisions on how to allocate over $1.3-million in new operating levy funding for next year, as well as around $114,000 in new state aid. The District 88 School Board meeting starts at 7pm today at the District Administrative Center in New Ulm.
