The Diocese of New Ulm broke ground on a new $7.5-million Pastoral Center on Friday. The new facility has been eight years in the planning, and replaces the original Diocesan Center constructed in 1960. It’s being constructed on nearly three acres of Diocese land between 5th and 6th North Streets along North Highland Avenue in New Ulm. The new building will have over 28,000 square-feet of space, and will include a chapel, a lobby, a multi-purpose room, 28 offices, 4 conference rooms, and other amenities. Construction is expected to take a year.
