A New Ulm woman faces felony charges in Brown County Court over allegations that she used her son’s EBT card without permission. 50-year-old Maria Lewandowski has been charged with financial transaction card fraud and wrongfully obtaining public assistance for allegedly using the Electronic Benefit Transfer card belonging to her son upwards of 44 times for over $1,100 in transactions at several New Ulm businesses. The son told authorities that he had allowed Lewandowski to use the card on a few occasions, but not the dozens of times she was recorded as having used it. The alleged crimes occurred between July and December of 2011.
