New Ulm Defenders Monument Back 05 Apr 13

The New Ulm Defenders Monument was put back into its place on Center Street on Thursday after being removed for repairs this past October. The Defender’s Monument was originally erected in 1891 by the State of Minnesota to honor the memory of those who aided New Ulm during the US-Dakota War of 1862. The artwork at the base was created by New Ulm artist Anton Gag. The Minnesota Historical Society supervised the recent repair work on the monument.
