New Minnesota Republican Chair 08 Apr 13

Minnesota Republicans elected former state representative Keith Downey as their new state party chair at their central committee meeting on Saturday in Bloomington. Downey served two terms in the Minnesota House and was the Vice President of the House Ways and Means Committee. Minnesota Political Analyst Steven Schier says that Downey has his work cut out for him, as the party has a lot of organizational problems, is in debt, and is having problems recruiting candidates for top statewide offices. Schier says that, so far, Minnesota Republicans have not found any quality candidates to run for governor and U-S Senate.
