The snowy and icy conditions on Minnesota roadways on Thursday are being blamed for multiple car crashes, including several in the local area. On Highway 71 in Renville County an armored truck hit a semi head-on at just after 11am, blocking the bridge into Redwood County for several hours. The 3 people involved were from South Dakota and Wisconsin, and suffered minor injuries. 55-year-old Daniel Kahoutek of Waterville suffered serious injuries when a car driven by 49-year-old Barry Lovalace of Le Sueur crossed the centerline on Highway 112 west of Le Sueur and hit his head-on at around 1pm. Lovelace received minor injuries. A crash on Highway 7 near Silver Lake seriously injured 64-year-old Lyudmila Kabanova of Winsted, and 23-year-old Christopher McCullough of Bluffton was seriously hurt in a crash on Highway 7 just east of Highway 22 at around 4:30. 34-year-old Ann Stine of Hutchinsons received minor injuries in that crash as well. A Mankato man suffered minor injuries in a 3-vehicle crash on Highway 60 near Windom also. There were numerous other incidents around the state throughout the day, including a crash on Interstate-94 in Washington County that claimed the life of a 16-year-old Wisconsin boy. Road conditions remain difficult across much of the state today (FRI).
