The New Ulm Public Utilities Commission on Tuesday learned that the Federal Aviation Administration has approved the city’s proposal to construct a new water tower at Nehls Park. The FAA says that the plans for the 250,000 gallon water tower have met federal regulations for clearance with the New Ulm Municipal Airport. This approval allows the construction of the new water tower to get underway in the next few weeks. The new tower off of Summit Avenue will replace the aging water tower just down the road at Hermann Heights Park. The New Ulm City Council recently approved the last of the permits needed for the project to begin as well.
