The sale of the Heron Lake Ethanol Plant has been called off. The sale of the 6-year-old facility to Guardian Energy was announced a few months ago, but after negotiations reportedly stalled the purchase agreement was terminated. The Heron Lake plant is reportedly currently $37.5-million in debt, but it is still producing ethanol, and company officials say it will stay open in one form or another. Any future course of action will reportedly be determined in the next month. The facility currently has 31 full-time employees.
