Authorities in Nicollet County have tossed out the case against an 86-year-old St. Peter woman accused of voter fraud. Margaret Schneider voted by absentee ballot last year, and then showed up again in August to vote in the state’s primary election. Schneider has Parkinson’s disease and suffers from dementia, and said she had forgotten about the absentee vote. Nicollet County prosecutors said when they charged Schneider last month that the law left them no choice, but the case was dismissed during a court hearing Tuesday. Schneider and her family have no comment. Her record will be cleared if she has no other voting infractions by November of next year.
