August Schell Brewery Earns Medals 05 Apr 13

New Ulm’s August Schell Brewing Company has been awarded gold and silver World Beer Championship medals from the Beverage Testing Institute for its Bock and Barleywine Ale. Schell’s Bock scored a 93 in the Beverage Testing Institute’s Bock category, earning the beer a gold medal and the title “exceptional.” Schell’s Stag Series Number-7 American Barleywine Style Ale earned an 88 in the Barleywine Ale category, receiving a silver medal and a “highly recommended” rating from the panel of judges. Schell’s was founded in 1860, and is the second-oldest family-owned brewery in the country
