Twins Lose, Make Roster Moves 23 Mar 13

Justin Morneau [[ MORE-noh ]] and Ryan Doumit each hit a solo homer but the Twins fell to the Yankees yesterday, 9-7. Dan Rohlfing also clubbed a solo shot for Minnesota. Vance Worley allowed five runs, four earned, in five frames in the start. The Twins take on the Rays in Port Charlotte today at 12:05.

The Twins have placed pitchers Scott Diamond and Anthony Swarzak on the 15-day disabled list. Neither pitcher is expected to be ready for Opening Day. Diamond had a bone chip removed from his elbow in December. Swarzak should appear in a minor-league game next week.

The Twins have trimmed their roster down a bit more. Outfielder Joe Benson and left-handed pitcher Pedro Hernandez have been optioned to Triple-A Rochester. The Twins also reassigned right-hander Luis Perdmomo and third baseman Deibinson Romero to minor-league camp. Minnesota now has 38 players left in camp.
