A St. Peter man who led authorities on a high-speed car chase in and around Kasota last Friday night is now also facing charges for another car chase earlier in the week. 31-year-old Adam Joseph Willaert was charged with felony fleeing police and several misdemeanors in Le Sueur County Court on Tuesday after attempting to evade authorities Friday night. A State Patrol helicopter was involved in that chase, which ended when Willaert reportedly attempted to drive down some railroad tracks off Highway 22 and his vehicle became disabled. He’s now also facing charges for a high-speed chase involving a pickup truck in Mankato last Tuesday. Willaert had reportedly fled from the vehicle before authorities found it parked between 2 garages, but prescription pill bottles with his name on them were allegedly found in the truck, along with a suitcase containing letters addressed to him. He remains in custody in Le Sueur County.
