New Ulm Sup’t Finalists Named 19 Mar 13

The New Ulm District 88 School Board and a committee of district staff and community members held interviews with the district’s 6 superintendent semi-finalists on Monday, and 2 finalists were chosen. GFW Superintendent Jeff Bertrang and Houston Superintendent Jean Broadwater will return for another round of interviews next week. Bertrang has nearly 2 years of experience as the superintendent for GFW, and 13 years as a principal and dean for the district prior to that. He also has 13 years of experience as an industrial tech teacher. Broadwater has 4 years of experience as the superintendent in Houston as well as in Kewaunee, Wisconsin. Prior to that she was a high school principal in West Bend, Wisconsin for 6 years and an elementary teacher in Milwaukee for 8 years. They will now undergo another round of interviews and tour the district next Monday and Tuesday, and “Community Forums” will be held each day beginning at 4pm in the DAC auditorium in New Ulm to give the public a chance to meet the candidates and ask questions. A decision is then expected next week as well. The new District 88 superintendent would be looking at a salary range of between $120,000 to $125,000 per-year
