Icy road conditions combined with strong winds on Tuesday to cause numerous car crashes across the state. Local Minnesota Department of Transportation officials issued difficult driving advisories for the south-central portion of the state due to the high winds, blowing snow and numerous icy patches. In the local area, a Waterville couple were injured Tuesday afternoon when their vehicle spun out on Highway 60 in Le Sueur County while driver Christopher Guinn was attempting to pass other vehicles. The Guinns’ Pontiac sedan rolled into the ditch and they were taken to the Mankato Mayo Hospital. Two people were seriously injured in a pickup truck rollover on Highway 22 just outside of Kiester Tuesday night as well. Their names and the extent of their injuries have not been released at this time. Road conditions across southern Minnesota had improved somewhat this (WED) morning, although some difficult patches remain.
