An open house informational meeting concerning upcoming Highway 5 construction projects is being held in Arlington on Tuesday. It takes place from 5 to 6:30pm at the Arlington Community Center, and staff from the Minnesota Department of Transportation and assisting consultants will be on hand. The meeting will address the impacts of 2 projects on Highway 5 this year: the resurfacing of the highway from Gaylord to Arlington in May and June which will cause lane closures and delays as well as a short detour for bridge repair work, and pavement replacement and culvert work from Arlington to Green Isle from July to early September, which will include a detour to county roads. Each project will cost around $3-million. Prior to the Gaylord to Arlington resurfacing project, the traffic signal at Highway 5 and Main Street in Arlington will be deactivated for a three-month evaluation period as well, and if there are no adverse traffic impacts the signal will be permanently removed.
