A dedication ceremony for the latest Habitat for Humanity of South Central Minnesota home is taking place in St. James this (THU) evening. The South Central Minnesota Habitat For Humanity branch has helped over a hundred families own their own homes, and the newest recipient is the Aguilar Family. Habitat For Humanity partner families complete over 200 “Sweat Equity Hours” in the construction of their new home as a requirement of the program. They purchase the home through a 0% interest mortgage, in which monthly mortgage payments are used to build more Habitat homes. Donations, in-kind building materials and volunteer labor are the driving force behind Habitat for Humanity’s ability to build homes at an affordable price. An open house for the Aguilar Family’s new home at 507 10th Avenue North in St. James is taking place from 5 to 7pm today, with the dedication ceremony starting at 5:30.
