Graduation Improvement Initiative 14 Mar 13

State education officials on Wednesday unveiled a new education initiative aimed at closing achievement gaps and improving graduation rates in Minnesota. The plan establishes a goal of a 90% high school graduation rate in the state by the year 2020. Lieutenant Governor Yvonne Prettner Solon says the initiative involves funding for 46,000 students to take advantage of all-day kindergarten as well as opportunities for even younger kids, with Governor Dayton investing money to allow an additional 10,000 children to enroll in pre-school. Prettner Solon says there is currently about a 77% graduation rate in the state.
