For the second time this week, Williams Arena was the site of a major upset in college basketball. This time, it was the Golden Gopher women who were the heroes. Minnesota shot 67-percent from the floor last night and beat Penn State 89-81. The Gophers received 24 points from Micaella Riche [[ muh-KAYLA ruh-SHAY ]], 23 from Rachel Banham, and 19 from Sari Noga [[ SARE-ee NO-guh ]] en route to the win. Riche was 9-for-10 from the floor and also grabbed five rebounds. Noga, who is from Parkers Prairie, hit six-for-six from three-point range while matching her career high. Minnesota is now 17-and-12 overall and 6-and-9 in the Big Ten. Penn State fell to 23-and-4 overall and 13-and-2 in the league. The Gophers close out the regular season with a game at Indiana on Sunday afternoon.

The Gophers snapped a two-game skid with Tuesday’s 77-73 upset of top-ranked Indiana. Minnesota sits at 19-and-9 and 7-and-8 in the Big Ten. Penn State snapped its 14-game losing streak with an upset win over Michigan on Wednesday. The Nittany Lions are 9-and-18 and 1-and-14.
