An armed motorcyclist who was fleeing from authorities in southwestern Minnesota was killed Saturday evening when he crashed his Harley head-on into a State Patrol squad car. Authorities say that 33-year-old Chad Danneman of Slayton was armed with a knife when he fled from Cottonwood and Murray County sheriff’s deputies in separate pursuits Saturday. Trooper Jeffery Stearns then spotted Danneman on a county road northwest of Windom shortly before 6:30pm and activated his emergency lights. Danneman then reportedly sped toward the stopped squad car at a high rate of speed and struck it head-on. He was ejected from his cycle and pronounced dead at the scene. Trooper Stearns suffered minor injuries. Danneman had prior convictions for making terrorist threats, felony drug possession, drunken driving and mistreatment of animals.
