Congress Home On Spring Recess 25 Mar 13

Members of Congress are back in their home states for the spring recess, but before she left DC Senator Amy Klobuchar called on her colleagues to come together on a balanced approach to the federal budget that reduces the nation’s debt and improves the economy. Although the House and Senate versions of the US spending plan are much different, Klobuchar is more confident that they can work together on the differences and says the Senate may just pass a budget for the first time in three years. Senator Al Franken has introduced three budget amendments — one would fund a program to help students take college courses for credit while they are still in high school; a workforce training program would direct spending toward job training partnerships between companies and schools, and to skills training for the unemployed; a third would pay for the expansion of broadband networks in rural areas.
