Utility Bill Scam Reported 22 Feb 13

The Better Business Bureau of Minnesota has issued a warning for a new scam being reported that involves utility bills. Consumers and businesses are being advised to be on alert for phone calls or visits from people going door to door trying to collect money fraudulently by claiming utility bills are overdue and must be paid with reloadable debit cards. The Better Business Bureau says that you should not be pressured into making payments on the spot, and you should contact your utility company directly if the status of your account is called into question or if you suspect the possibility of fraud.
