A 25-year-old Vernon Center man has been sentenced to 5 years of probation and time served in jail for threatening his father with a sword last year. Timothy Lawrence Truebenbach avoided a jury trial for the August 2012 incident by pleading guilty to Terroristic Threats in December. A 2nd-degree assault with a dangerous weapon charge was dismissed in exchange for the guilty plea. Truebenbach’s mother had reportedly stopped the assault, and told authorities that he said he planned to kill his father. The sword was found by law enforcement in a closet. Truebenbach served a total of 105 days in jail for the crime, and will be on probation until February of 2018.
