The New Ulm Human Rights Commission has announced the recipient of the annual Human Rights Award. New Ulm native Sheldon Rieke is being honored for his dedication to SPOTS, or Students Performing On Tough Situations. Students involved in the SPOTS program act out scenes they have created on subjects regarding youth welfare, including bullying in all its various forms. Rieke teaches the kids that bullying is something that we are all harmed by, and that it can and must be stopped. A reception and award ceremony will be held for Sheldon Rieke on Thursday, February 28th at the Lind House in New Ulm beginning at 4:30pm. The ceremony will begin at 5. The public is invited to attend and congratulate Sheldon on receiving the Human Rights award.
