The Sibley East School District will soon have a new superintendent. The Sibley East School Board last week unanimously selected Jim Amsden to be the next leader of the district. Amsden has been with Sibley East for 24 years, serving as high school principal for the past 4 years, and as a social studies teacher prior to that. He has reportedly verbally accepted the position, and contract negotiations are underway. The goal is to have a contract with Amsden ready to be approved by the school board during the meeting this Tuesday. Retired Sibley East Superintendent John Langenbrunner has been serving as the district’s interim superintendent this school year after former superintendent Stephen Jones went to the Little Falls School District. A total of 20 applications for the position were received.
