A rural Good Thunder man who served 30 days in jail after crashing into a hay wagon full of people in August of 2011 is now being sued by one of the people injured in the crash. Three people were seriously hurt when the car driven by 24-year-old Joshua Jerald Bateman crashed into the tractor pulling the hay wagon, and then the wagon, which had 17 people on it at the time. It happened about 2 miles north of Good Thunder, and Bateman had a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit at the time. 43-year-old Gina Urban has now filed a lawsuit against Bateman, saying she received permanent injuries in the crash. She is seeking $50,000 for medical costs, lost wages, and physical and mental pain. She is also seeking punitive damages because Bateman was drunk at the time. He had been ordered to pay $4,900 in restitution as well, which has not been paid at this time.
