A fire at an apartment building in Olivia Thursday morning has left one man dead and over a dozen other residents homeless. The fire at the Westcourt Apartments in Olivia was reported at just after 7am, and upon arrival fire crews found heavy smoke coming out of one apartment. A body was found in that apartment after the fire was extinguished, but the identity of the person has not been released at this time. The fire was contained to the 1 apartment, but the other 15 units sustained smoke damage, and 15 individuals have been temporarily displaced. The American Red Cross is providing shelter as well as food and clothing for some of the Westcourt residents. The State Fire Marshall is assisting Olivia authorities in the investigation into the cause of the fire.
