Fasching Season In New Ulm 07 Feb 13

The celebration of the German Mardi Gras gets underway Friday afternoon in New Ulm. Fasching kicks off with the masked Narren of New Ulm capturing the town’s mayor and reading a proclamation that no one in the community should have to work during Fasching. The Narren will reportedly capture New Ulm Mayor Bob Beussman at around 1 o’clock Friday afternoon at New Ulm City Hall before parading him through downtown dressed in traditional Fasching garb. The highlights of the weekend in New Ulm include the annual Fasching celebration at Turner Hall from Noon to 11pm on Saturday, Bock Fest at the August Schell Brewery from 11am to 4:30pm Saturday, and the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame Parade of Bands and Concertina Jamboree from Noon to 6 on Sunday at Turner Hall.
