The Special Election to fill the Minnesota House District 19A seat left vacant by the resignation of Democrat Terry Morrow takes place today (TUE). Three candidates are running for the seat, which covers all of Nicollet County and portions of Blue Earth and Le Sueur Counties. The candidates include the Independence Party’s Tim Gieseke, a 49-year-old farmer and ag consultant from rural New Ulm; Democrat Clark Johnson, a 60-year-old professor at MSU who lives in North Mankato, and Republican Allen Quist, a 68-year-old farmer and former state lawmaker from rural St. Peter. The polling locations and times for today’s Special Election are the same as from the General Election in November.
