The Brown County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning on a scam reported Thursday. A resident of Brown County says that she received a phone call from someone claiming that her grandchild was in trouble and needed money. Authorities would like people to be aware of this scam and verify any family emergencies with other family members before acting on such calls. Residents should also report any suspicious activity to their local law enforcement agency. Scams can also be reported to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Anti-Fraud Unit.
