Authorities have released more information on the police standoff in North Mankato Thursday that ended with the death of the homeowner. Tactical Response Team officers with assault rifles had surrounded the home of 83-year-old Lloyd Hodgson Tschohl on Lor Ray Drive Thursday morning after his family members expressed concern over his welfare, saying that he had made homicidal statements and had weapons in his home. Officers attempted to get him to exit the home for more than 3 hours, but as they approached to get a better view inside at around 2pm Tschohl reportedly opened fire through a window and door. He then allegedly came out the back door firing at officers with 2 handguns, and 3 officers returned fire and killed him. Those officers are on standard administrative leave while the investigation is underway.
