School Theft Case Continuance 09 Jan 13

The attorney for the former Nicollet School administrator accused of stealing nearly $1,500 in district funds has asked for a continuance in the case while waiting for the results of a mental health evaluation. 31-year-old Justin Berg of rural Le Sueur County faces felony theft and theft of public funds charges for allegedly taking ticket sales and concession stand money on several occasions while working for the school district. He faces up to 5 years in prison, but in court Tuesday his attorney told the judge that Berg is a veteran going through some psychiatric issues, and he needs the mental health evaluation results in order to properly defend his client. The continuance was granted, and Berg is scheduled to be back in court on April 2nd.
